Albert Southwick to sign at Annie's Book Stop

WORCESTER, MA, January 6, 2013 – On Sunday, January 26th, Albert B. Southwick, WWII navy pilot and local historian for the Telegram & Gazette will be signing his latest book releases at Annie's Book Stop of Worcester from 2-4PM. His releases include WWII Correspondence between Albert B. Southwick and Maple Hill Farm: February-June 1942, a collection of letters written to his mother during his service during the Second World War; Down on the Farm: Volume I (1956-1958), which includes his essays and articles about growing up on a farm in Leicester, MA; and Albert B. Southwick: Selected Writings: Volume 1, a collection from his local history column from the Telegram & Gazette.

Southwick is the oldest columnist for the T&G and grew up in Leicester, attending Mannville school, a one-room schoolhouse that covered first through eighth grade, then went to Leicester High School and Clark University. He spent four years in the navy during World War II, the latter two of which he was a navy pilot. Upon his return from duty, he received his M.A. from Clark University and did a year of graduate work in U.S. History from Brown University.  From 1950-1952, he worked as a civilian historian for the U.S. Seventh Army in Stuttgart, Germany. These three newest releases bring his publishing credits to eight books, two librettos, and countless articles for periodicals including The Saturday Evening Post, The New York Times, The Boston Globe, Worcester Magazine, and Worcester T & G; he specializes in the history of Worcester.
