The first 25 people to purchase perennials from the Plant Sale on the Common will receive a free Kousa Dogwood Tree!
If you are passionate about gardening and love beautiful plants and garden accessories, then your gardening season isn’t complete without a visit to the Grafton Garden Club’s Annual Perennial Plant Sale on the Common, Saturday, May 10, 2014.
In its 75th year, the Plant Sale has become a Grafton tradition, with proceeds supporting scholarships and grants for Grafton students and teachers. This year’s event is shaping up to be bigger and better than ever before! Mother’s Day is May 11, so we have created beautiful floral arrangements, potted plants, and other gift items for Mom. Browse our Just-For-Mom table and see if there’s something special for your special Mom. The Garden Club has assembled a wide variety of perennials to keep your garden in bloom from April through October! Experienced Garden Club members are happy to answer your questions and assist you in choosing the right plants for your site. We will have available for you shade-loving plants, sun-loving plants, and those partial to both sun and shade.
We will have ground covers, herbs, shrubs and trees. Colorful annuals and hardy vegetables will be offered as well. Why not buy a delicious dessert from our bake table and give it to Mom. She shouldn’t have to bake on her special day! Back by popular demand is a truckload of composted manure from Ridge Valley Stables!
Buy $10 worth of plants and you will get a free ticket towards winning the manure, also known as “brown gold” to garden enthusiasts. The manure will be delivered to your home. We will also have bags of composted manure for sale. This event is also great fun for kids! There are pony rides and children’s activities provided by the Girl Scouts.
The Library will hold a reading circle on the Common at 11:00 for youngsters. Music will delight everyone! Sir Loin's Catering will be cooking the barbecue lunch again this year. Grafton History Day is also being celebrated on May 10 from 9 to 2 pm on the Common.
Both the Sons of the American Revolution and the Daughters of the American Revolution will be presenting. A period Costumed Stroll around Historic Grafton Common is planned at 11am. Children and adults are invited to dress up in period outfits and join the Stroll. The Lion’s Club will have their costumed Lion for photos with the kids.
The Masons also will be represented. On Saturday May 10th, Grafton Common is the place to be! So please come - rain or shine- to the Grafton Common from 9am until 2pm. There is fun for the whole family. Let’s celebrate spring in Grafton!
